Indigo Pearl is all about fusion – mystical and majestic with pyramid details and liana grown walls like from Lara Croft and Indiana Jones movies. Minimalistic concrete walls are also paired with various details from the Wild Wild West movie, as it seems that Will Smith will come and join you by the pool at any time.

We discovered this hidden paradise when we visited the Black Ginger restaurant on our first evening in Phuket. And I can say that this was one of the best Thai food experiences, if not the best, we have experienced in many years of global travel.

The first time we visited Black Ginger we sat inside, and it was a very sophisticated, minimalistic feeling, with a beyond-awesome fresh lemongrass aroma. The second time we sat outside, and I was glad we did because it offered a completely different experience: you could feel nature all around, with the loud and beautiful chorus of crickets.

We liked Black Ginger so much that we decided to stay at Indigo Pearl when we returned from Koh Pha-Ngan at the end of our trip.

Indigo Pearl hotel is a true fusion of design and architecture, and it has many awesome things for different tastes.

The jewel of Indigo Pearl is the gorgeous COQOON Spa – simply unmissable in Phuket. I was also very impressed by the hotel’s art gallery – the paintings of Queen Elizabeth were awesome!

There’s also a great little boutique selling design objects so you can bring a small flavour of Lara Croft, Indiana Jones and Wild Wild West home with you!

I will share with you my latest discovery! This time it will not be about the shopping but something sparkly and bubbly – champagne.

I have never been a big fan of this drink. Even at a New Year celebration I always try to skip it because all I ever tasted was carbon dioxide and bubbles that did not sit well with my stomach. But lately I had a very educational experience with the Embassy of Champagne (thank God!) 😀 Otherwise I would get old, die, and never would have discovered what I am going to tell you. :)))

So there is a new fashion/way of drinking champagne, and I will admit that it changes everything… (Oh, yes!)

Already for some time now wine connoisseurs have come to the conclusion that champagne tastes better from wine glasses. Girls! Flutes are out of fashion now!

As I already told you, it makes a huge difference. It changes the taste (finally you can taste it), because it opens up and lets the beautiful aromas express themselves much better, and at the same time you enjoy mild, nice, and sexy bubbles.

So, don’t be old school, and play a little smartass at the restaurant by asking to bring the champagne in wine glasses. Remember: blanc and light rose (Moet and Veuve Clicquot) from simple white wine glasses, but more complex champagnes like Vintage and Ruinart from pinot noir glasses. 😉

And there is something more! We should break old-fashioned stereotypes that champagne is only for special occasions or celebrations, because it tastes amazingly good with seafood and even meat. Champagne will definitely be a very big competitor for a daily wine replacement along with food. I tried it myself in the last two weeks when I tasted special champagne and wine combinations in four restaurants in Riga, Latvia. I must say it was heavenly good. And if you want to enjoy a glass of champagne with delicious appetizers created to be enjoyed together, then you can do it until the end of March in these four restaurants:

RESTAURANT BERGS

A glass of Veuve Clicquot Rosé Brut with paired delicacy – the wild trout caviar with rice crisps.

3PAVARI  three-chef restaurant  “The good must grow”

A glass of Veuve Clicquot Rosé Brut  – Foie Gra, red orange gel, black currant reduction, fennel salad and red currant sauce. This was my favourite combination.

LE DOME FISH RESTAURANT

A glass of Moet & Chandon Rosé Brut with paired delicacy – seared salmon trout, Iceland prawns, fennel salad, red currant sauce.

SKYLINE

A glass of Moet & Chandon Rosé Brut with paired delicacy – beef carpaccio with  balsamico glaze and cherry tomato. Melon with Serrano ham and red currant gel. Spicy fried tiger-prawn mango chutney.

Try champagne from wine glass and let life surprise you! ;))

Yours,

Liga xox

BEST FRIENDS CLOSET / Marble Avenues by Liga ZemtureBEST FRIENDS CLOSET / Marble Avenues by Liga Zemture

I noticed this cute store when I was in Miami for the first time some years ago and we had a gym next to this place. It is located close to Miami Design District, in a nice, green, and stylish oasis with several great restaurants around.

With variety of vintage Hermes and Chanels, as well as shelves full of shoes, this store is like the awesome closet of your best friend… Plus, there is the amazing Katherina working there, who is so nice that I would love to hang out at this store all day talking with her about fashion. C.C Levin, the owner of the store, is a sophisticated lady, with such a strong handshake that I love. But it is no wonder, as she is the mother of teenage boys.

It was really pleasant to talk with both of them and I hope to meet them in Paris one day! Actually, this is the right time for American girls to come to Paris and buy their dream bag because of the dollar and euro difference, as well as the tax you can get back when returning home. It is such a good deal. Lucky girls!

If you have a limited budget you still can take a look at Consignment Bar, and maybe you can get a good deal on your vintage bag. And, by the way, there is a saying that a good bag is a better investment than shares in the stock market, because good designer bags do not lose their value.

My favourite pieces from Consignment Bar:

I am not a big fan of stripes – maybe because I am not a big fan of all sailing garments. And stripes remind me of the sea and boating and captains and ships… This should be a big surprise, since my husband and I are big sailors… Hahaha, actually I am a very funky sailor who is afraid of great winds (my husband would laugh if he saw that I am confessing this to you… When I am too afraid in a big wind and waves he makes fun of me, saying that he will write a letter to all the magazines where I have given interviews about sailing and will announce that I am poor sailor…) :))) Whatever! I am!!! And I like fashion on a boat too…! :)))

Actually, when we sail I never wear stripes, maybe because I feel it is too traditional for a boat – I like a gorgeous long dress that plays in the wind better and makes me feel free and careless.

This beautiful stripy dress I chose for my post caught my eyes instantly. It does not happen often that I fall in love so quickly with some garment. But when it happens it happens… It has an awesome cut and quality, and, by the way, stripes will be one of the trends for 2016. However, this post won’t be about sailing or 2016 trends, but about how to use stripes to your advantage! As I already wrote in my previous post, HOURGLASS, we all look beautiful no matter what body shape we have! We just have to dress it the right way! The key to success is to choose the right garment for your figure. In this case stripes are your best friends, because with the help of vertical or horizontal stripes you can enhance your body’s best features and hide those you do not want to see. It can make such a big difference in your looks!

You have to remember that horizontal stripes make your body look wider and vertical stripes look slimmer. However, this does not mean that horizontal lines are bad and will make you look fat: you just need to know how to use them properly. The ideal shape we should get is the hourglass – wide shoulders, a tiny waist, and wide hips (I am not a real supporter of this formula, because I think that as long as a woman is happy and there is a sparkle in her eyes, then she is beautiful no matter what shape she has!!!). But OK, if we have started then let’s finish: the formula is easy – dress your widest place in vertical stripes and your slimmer parts in horizontal lines and get the right balance.

Your rectangle-shaped friend,

Liga ;)))

PS: Who is a poor sailor by the way…
